Serendipity Scriptures
2 Corinthians 5:17
If any man be in Christ
he is a new creature,
old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new.
Wow! What an illustration. How can you not notice the wounded hand, the bright butterfly, the empty cocoon, and the cross. It takes your breath away, doesn’t it? If you are like me, as you read scripture, God does just that for your heart and mind and soul. His Word is so rich! There are so many layers of meaning. He really does bless our hearts as we read! He surprises us. He inspires us. He encourages us. He disciplines us. The more we read our Bibles, the more serendipities God brings us as HIs Holy Spirit illuminates the rich meaning of His His Word.
And praise God! Every serendipity, in one way or another, reflects the power and the love of God we see in the life of Jesus. His serendipities always reflect the true nature of God in the day-to-day life of our Savior, Jesus. Every scripture illuminates the truth of God’s Being reflected in Jesus. He is, indeed, the light of the world. His light shines and the world’s darkness flees. Surely we are blessed as we read His Word.
Truly Jesus never changes. His perfection never weakens. His faithfulness never fails. His love never diminishes. His joy ever increases. His love ever encompasses. His peace ever prevails. His resurrection ever rises with the morning sun. Jesus: The same yesterday, today, and forever. Think about it, that’s an eternal serendipity.
Who has not gone through a Habakkuk 3:17-18 valley? This is the life verse of our dear friend Martha Hall, who, along with her husband, Bob, spent decades in some really tough spots in Nigeria. She held onto to these verses as she and Bob served together, while raising four children. You know those kinds of days and weeks and months which seem to raise challenges to your faith one-after-one? Sometimes the spiritual weariness sets in and we desperately need a hearty helping of God’s Word and encouragement. In His divine wisdom God delivers us a healthy dose of faith and hope in these truly serindipitous verses. They boldly declare how God remains our rock to stand upon, even when nothing goes right. When our expected harvest fails, when absolutely everything grows wrong, and when our dreams of success vanish before our eyes; even then, we can find joy, for God fully and truly is our salvation. No matter the depth of our sorrows, God is our salvation. We can absolutely trust in Him.
After all, He is the Holy One who created the stars. It is He alone who brings them out one by one. It is He who has named them and calls them each by name. Only our omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God could do so. He and His magnificent power, He and His marvelous strength, makes sure that not one star is missing.
Truly HIs thoughts are precious. The variety of His thoughts overcome us with wonder. Even the sand on every sea shore fall short of the number of His thoughts. And so, whatever may come our way, we can stand strong with Him. His serendipities never end, for they are beyond counting, and await our seeking and discovering His good way for us.

When I fall into the wonder of His Word
He ever has a surprise for me
awaiting my seeking and searching
for His truth in blessed Scripture.
When I fall into the wonder of His Word
He knows every need I have
and He invites me to discover
His blessing as I seek Him.
When I fall into the wonder of His Word
He delights me with His own
gift individually prepared
for my situation.
When I fall into the wonder of His Word
He leads me to find sweet Jesus
my Savior and my good Shepherd—
my doorway to Heaven.
